The network will be made up of Local Authority and other statutory agency representatives (e.g. Police, Primary Care Trust, Education), together with representatives from the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS), including Registered Social Landlords, Councils for Voluntary Service, Rural Community Councils and Town and Parish Councils, among others.
It is envisaged that the network will operate on a ‘virtual’ basis communicating through the use of e-mail and will hold one networking event, scheduled to be held on the 28th January 2010, at the Trinity Centre, in Cambridge.
The Main aims of the network are to:
- improve the quality of community empowerment practice through the sharing of good practice examples
- act as a sounding board for new ideas and to inspire new and innovative approaches to community empowerment
- build up a knowledge base of expertise within the East of England
- contribute to the improvement of National Indicator 4 (the percentage of people who feel they can influence decisions in their local area)
- raise awareness of the Regional Empowerment Partnership.
