A virtual network of Empowerment Champions has been developed with representatives from Local Authority and other statutory agencies (e.g. Police, Primary Care Trust, Education), together with representatives from the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS), including Registered Social Landlords, Councils for Voluntary Service, Rural Community Councils and Town and Parish Councils, among others.
The network has been established to encourage practitioners to:
- improve the quality of community empowerment practice through the sharing of good practice examples
- act as a sounding board for new ideas and to inspire new and innovative approaches to community empowerment
- build up a knowledge base of expertise within the East of England
- contribute to the improvement of National Indicator 4 (the percentage of people who feel they can influence decisions in their local area)
- raise awareness of the Regional Empowerment Partnership.
