What is the Excellence Framework?
The Excellence Framework is a web-based tool which helps to define excellence in sustainable communities in the East of England.

What is a sustainable community?
Sustainable communities are places where people want to live and work, now and in the future. They meet the diverse needs of existing and future residents, are sensitive to their environment, and contribute to a high quality of life. They are safe and inclusive, well planned, built and run, and offer equality of opportunity and good services for all.

What is the purpose of the Excellence Framework?
The Excellence Framework to help projects achieve the highest possible standard of practice.

What does the Excellence Framework cover?
The Excellence Framework uses the Department for Communities and Local Government definition of a sustainable community, which includes eight sections: Social and Cultural; Governance; Transport and Connectivity; Services; Equity; Economy; Housing and the Built Environment.

What types of projects can use the excellence framework?
The bigger and more complex the project, the more sections of the Excellence Framework will be applicable. However, it is hoped that projects of all sizes can use the Excellence Framework.

You could use the Excellence Framework in developing your project, whilst delivering your project, or when evaluating your project.
