• Who owns the Excellence Framework?
  Inspire East own the content of the Excellence Framework.
• Who wrote the questions for the Excellence Framework?
  The Building Research Establishment and Inspire East.
• Who can use the Excellence Framework?
  Anyone is entitled to use the Excellence Framework, public, private and voluntary sector organisations.
• Who is Inspire East?
  Inspire East are the regional centre of excellence for sustainable communities in the East of England.  Inspire East delivers the knowledge, skills and advice that will inspire you to use and apply best practice in creating high quality places to live, work and visit.
• Who else has access to my information?
  Inspire East is the only organisation that has access to your information.
• Who else can see my results?
  Inspire East is the only organisation that has access to your information.

What?

• What is the Excellence Framework?
  The Excellence Framework is a web-based tool which helps to define excellence in sustainable communities in the East of England.
• What is a sustainable community?
  Sustainable communities are places where people want to live and work, now and in the future. They meet the diverse needs of existing and future residents, are sensitive to their environment, and contribute to a high quality of life. They are safe and inclusive, well planned, built and run, and offer equality of opportunity and good services for all.
• What is the purpose of the Excellence Framework?
  The Excellence Framework to help projects achieve the highest possible standard of practice.
• What does the Excellence Framework cover?
  The Excellence Framework uses the Department for Communities and Local Government definition of a sustainable community, which includes eight sections: Social and Cultural; Governance; Transport and Connectivity; Services; Equity; Economy; Housing and the Built Environment.
• What do I do if the question does not apply?

• What types of projects can use the excellence framework?
  The bigger and more complex the project, the more sections of the Excellence Framework will be applicable.  However, it is hoped that projects of all sizes can use the Excellence Framework.
• What stage of development does my project need to be at to use the excellence framework?
  You could use the Excellence Framework in developing your project, whilst delivering your project, or when evaluating your project.
• What other tools are there?

• What happens if I want to stop the assessment part way through and come back later? Your results will be saved.

  The Excellence Framework is free.

  It is up to you how your answers will be used.
• How does the Excellence Framework link to other toolkits?
  The Excellence Framework has links to other toolkits in the tier 2 and the list of other toolkits.

  The tier 1 and tier 2 report can be printed.
• How can I run my project through the excellence framework more than once?
  You can save your project under another title and run your project through a second time.
