Inner London Group saw the opportunity to consult Inspire East Design Review as a way of unlocking the scheme design and addressing the concerns of the local planning authority. Inner London Group came to the first design review panel in March 2009 with a scheme that had been worked up to show unit numbers, massing and elevations but had not been worked up in detail.

The scheme was at pre-application stage, which was an important consideration for Inspire East and Inner London Group, as it meant that the fundamentals of the design could be tested. The local planning authority attended the design review.
