Welcome to the Sustainable Communities online Pack

Inspire East have created an online Sustainable Communities pack to help you better apply the principles to your work.

The online pack goes with the Inspire East half day and full day Introduction to Sustainable Communities and the Sustainable Communities modules being delivered with Anglia Ruskin University.  Follow the link for more information on the Sustainable Communities sessions.

  • In a Nutshell... Understanding Sustainable Communities
    The Academy for Sustainable Communities has produced a resource pack on Sustainable Communities called 'In a Nutshell'.  The pack summarises the key messages about sustainable communities.  It defines the term 'sustainable community', describes the thinking behind it, and sets out the roles, responsibilities and skills of the various organisations and individuals responsible for delivery.

  • Egan Review, skills for sustainable communities
    This review considers the skills needed to help deliver the vision and aims of the Sustainable Communities Plan. It is essential reading for all local authorities, built environment professionals, learning institutions, developers and related interest groups. The report presents the findings of the review and seeks to clarify the meaning of the term 'sustainable community'; identify who is responsible for leading the delivery of sustainable communites; and recognise the skills necessary to achieve sustainable communities.

  • What makes a Sustainable Community?
    The Academy for Sustainable Communities asked neighbourhood wardens, civic leaders, professionals, young students and community leaders questions about sustainable communities.

  • Excellence Framework
    The Excellence Framework is an online toolkit defining excellence in sustainable communities for the East of England.  The Excellence Framework has been created by Inspire East, with support from the Building Research Establishment and Sallet Consulting Ltd.  The toolkit has been adopted by the East of England Development Agency.

  • Inspire East policy and background
    The development of Regional Centres of Excellence (RCEs) have been guided by a number of policy documents at a national level.  Inspire East’s development was guided both by regional policy and a consultative business planning process.
