There are a number of toolkits available for assessing your project.  You may prefer to use one of these instead of the Excellence Framework.  Some of those listed are referenced in Tier 2 of the Excellence Framework.  If you click on one of the links below you will view the site in a new browser window.

East of England Checklist

UNDER CONTRUCTION - The Checklist is a new online tool that is being developed by EERA, BRE and Inspire East. Devised specifically to guide the design of new developments by making sense of current policy, the Checklist highlights best practice, complementing Ecohomes and the new Code for Sustainable Homes. The Checklist covers regionally specific sustainability and planning issues, emphasising those of higher priority. It can also be adapted to reflect locally significant concerns. The tool identifies a range of sustainability issues covered in the Regional Spatial Strategy for the South East enabling users to assess to what extent a design proposal will deliver on each issue.

A tookit to guide planning, setting up and running a community based ICT project, whether it is in a deprived inner city area or a remote and isolated rural community.

Living Streets Audit

Living Streets Community Street Audits identify issues and opportunities to enhance the public realm and encourage walking. Local knowledge is central to the process, as Living Streets believe that local people understand their area best. Workshops and training encourage community groups or authorities to organise their own audits.

OMSH house builder sustainability toolkit WWF

WWF has created an extensive Housebuilder Sustainability Toolkit, sponsored by asset manager Insight Investment, to provide clear guidance for housebuilders seeking to address a wide range of sustainability issues. The toolkit, compiled by Upstream (a strategic sustainability consultancy specialising in the built environment) tackles a variety of concerns including climate change, community involvement, the sustainable use of materials, and waste. It is available free of charge.

Placecheck

Placecheck is a method of assessing the qualities of a place, showing what improvements are needed, and focusing people on working together to achieve them.

Planning for Real

"Planning for Real"® is a whole process of community consultation. It begins with contacting the local community networks and reaches a conclusion with the formation of an Action Plan for taking forward the decisions made during the process.

Toolkit East

The broad aim of East of England Toolkit is to highlight the economic, environmental and social impacts of policies, development proposals and other new initiatives within the region and provide information which can help to improve them. It therefore provides decision support rather than prescriptive solutions and any responsibility for actions taken as a result of using it lies with its users.
